After pulling covers off my boat this spring (it's a 1988 4.3 OMC Cobra)I discovered that bildge is full of water(i left the dain plug in) and about a gallon of water came out of the oil pan when i was changing oil.Any ideas on how the water would get in to the engine???? and what should i do next?<br />To make things worse i reversed polarity on battery so now i am not getting any power to bildge pump, starter, lights and radio ,but trim and tilt work just fine

When you hooked the battery up wrong, you probably blew a fuse. Replace any blown fuse and I'm betting the bilge pump will work. How much water covered the engine? You may have more problems if the water froze in the boat this past winter.

about 1/2 of the engine was under water icluding starter, but it was drained before the winter, and seems like the boat was re-wired cause colors on wiring diagrams would not match the existing wiring,so i am having a hard time finding fuses
