Looking really great Sam!....youre getting there...those look like bubbles because they reflect the light.....sanding before the next session will reduce them.
Ok so any thoughts on converting the rollers to bunks . I’m not the biggest fan of roller bunks .. Those rollers are pressed on I think . Not sure how I could support the back end of the bunk .. I guess I could just have a bunk that pivots idk ...
Ideally, you just want to cut open the tops of the bubbles and let the next coat fill them in, the reason u will still see them is the angles, like a scratch in clear coat. Since you put 2 coats on, some may just be too far down to reach without taking most of what u put on back off..
i always sand tops off let next coat fill in on and on and on after so many coats and sanding between you will arrive at a point where you no longer see old imperfections just new ones and new ones wont be as bad as original ones because material seeps into wood creating them so those are usually the worst and once filled its all about not creating new ones or at least knocking them down... as i was told.
Man gots ta tell ya. You have to be a Saint to do all that hard work Sam. Believe you me it will just look gorgeous when you are done. It will all pay off in the end.
Cheers!
Kc , I don’t think a saint would be using the expletives I have uttered over the last few hours ..
But thanks for the words of encouragement! Been raining all day here today to add to the enjoyment..:rain:
Almost done sanding the top ..As late as it is I may not put another coat on today idk ..
I think I may use a little more thinner this time and not lay it so thick . That may help .
‘I think I may have sturd up some dust on that last coat ..
Ok , coat 5 on the topside is on .. After sanding and much better prep work I cut the pin holes down quite a bit .
Hopefully I can get even more out with the next few coats .. The sides are gunna need a lot of sanding . The veneer was really rough .. Hard to believe I have used a gallon of varnish already .. It’s coming out to be around 50 bucks per coat or more .. I have 3 quarts left so will need to order more ...
Just sanding here .. Borrowed a toy from my project manager at work . Using 220 on it then I followed up with some 320 by hand .. As you can see there is a lot of grain that will hopefully fill with more coats .. Next weekend me and the Admiral are taking the camper down here . https://www.google.com/search?clien...te%20Recreation%20Area%20At%20Flagler%20Beach
I’ll be Micky’s neighbor for the weekend !
