V/P AQ125B/125
Hello guys,

Does the timing mark on the vibration dampener and the timing mark on the crank need to line up? I would think so. While in the middle of changing the timing belt, I noticed that the didnt. (See Picture) Maybe the previous owner removed the dampener and didnt realign it. This could be why I cannot get the timing right. This picture was taken from dead center. Thanks for all of the help guys!
unless the dampner is seperated- as in the outside ring from the inside ring there is only one way it can go. where does that notch on the dampner show up on the timing tab? thats where it will show dead top. as long as the timing belt gears are lined up right and the notch on the dampner lines up on the tab its golden !

Good call lilmandavis, but the problem is, I had to remove the cover that has the degree scale to remove the timing belt. I guess I could slide it back on, get the dampener lined up to 0 degrees and remove it, then see if the crank mark is lined up with the block notch. Thanks!

There should be another notch on the block that the notch on the inner timing belt pulley should line up with. The notch on the damper lines up with another mark on the timing cover.

Thanks guys, I lined the carank notch up and put the timing cover on and it was dead on zero. Now I just have to wait on the new belt to come in. Do the belts still come with timing marks on them?

Is it at TDC on intake or compression stroke, maybe cause of misalignment...

rplky,

its at TDC compression, I didnt know that the dampener can only be installed one way. I verified today by replacing the timing cover that all is well! Thanks guys for all of the help!

Re: Crank timing mark (With Picture)

Hey Guys, I'm trying to get the cam timing set on my AQ125B as well. When the # 1 cylinder is at TDC, the crank keyway is at about 11:00 and the male key for the pulley/dampener is at about 5:00.
The new belt has 123 teeth, could someone tell me how many teeth on the belt there should be between the male key on the crank and the mark on the cam pulley? This should put the cam in time I would think.
I ask this because I am doing this blind ( literally, lost my vision to RP) and I can count the teeth and find the crank male key and the mark on the cam pulley
Thanks very much, Mike
wme222@hotmail.com
( In case you're wondering, I use a text to voice screen reader program called JAWS to use the computer, Smile)
