I've seen mention of raising the transom to allow long shaft motors to be run on boats designed for short shaft motors. I'm looking at the opposite end, picking up a short shaft motor that will in the future be put on a boat designed for a long shaft motor. Is there a mount that could be hung off the transom to allow a short shaft motor to be used?

Yes, paul.

Depending on engine size, kicker mounts and jackplates can do it.

Good luck. :)

JB's right, the norm is to move motor out atleast 6"to 8" for every 5" inch diff. in motor length P.S. you can get 5"extensions for most motors, either is going to cost you hope your getting the motor Real cheap! just something consider when buying
