As a formerly musclebound type, I was amazed at how heavy and awkward this little motor is, jeeze, I lifted it easily enough, but manuvering it high enough and exactly enough on the engine stand, THAT was a trick!

Busted fuel pump intake is all I see from here, I sprayed some WD 40 up the pee hole to see if there was any signs of mud coming out

Still am amazed how heavy she is tho!

You can see by the colour of the paint, its never been overheated, and looking at the edge og headgasket, I dont think its ever been disassembled. Dont forget a new impeller. Good luck with it, it looks really good, i dont think ist has run a lot.

Re: The Johnson is On The Stand!!!

lol, would be the first time balls dropped to the floor  from manhandling a Johnson ... aint she a pretty girl?

her 66 running mate is all white, so there is a dilemma, I personally like Evinrude Blue, so I was considering painting both motors blue where its green (or should be!) on both, and matching accents on the boat itself

There isnt anything in the Seloc or CLymer manuals about changing the impeller on the long shaft models, are they any different? Once I find a fuel pump for her, I want to fire her up, already have a tune up kit for her

Ive read where some people change the head gasket every year too, and at 36 years, shes due I guess

edit - she does look like shes low hours, whereas the 66 40 horse looks like it went thru a war, Im willing to bet that once they are both tuned and turned loose on the back of the boat, they will be nearly equal in power

Once I get the big stand done, Ill get both side by side, that way I can work on them both, cant wait to get em both on the water and churning away

:D :D :D
