I did some searching, and couldn't find anything that pertained directly to my situation...

I'm installing my last set of stringers.
I did the first side last summer.

The problem I noticed is...
There is a gap between the inboard stringer that varies from approx 1/4 to 1" in the middle of the stringer. The ends meet the boat hull just fine.
I noticed this gap when I was removing the old stringer. The factory had blasted quite a bit of glass in the void. The stringer on that side was very rough cut and didn't really match-fit anything. Infact..It didn't appear to touch the hull n the problem area I'm having now.
Possibly factory flaw?

The first set of stringers didn't have this problem. They fit rather nicely and glasses up just fine. I used a little filler on the under-sides, but not much (maybe 1/4" in some high/low spots)

Question is... Can I get away with this big of gap, or should I fill some of it?
I'd say it runs about 4 feet, and varies from 1/4 to 1" at its worse.

The stringers are level with the first side, so I really don't want to try and remove more wood.
The boat is on an older roller-trailer and blocked level.
There doesn't appear to be any sagging in the hull where the gap is. Even if there was some, there is no way it could be that much.

I thought about blocking the hull up (and pushing the floor upwards) where the gap is, but I don't know if that would be the right choice.

It just doesn't make sense that the first side went in well with little gaps. Now the other side looks completely different.

Thanks,

H.
