i know my 13' whaler is made out of some sort of unsinkable foam, but is it possible to drill directly into the foam and mount a seat post mount to it?

i'd like to put a high seat in the front, between the little wooden storage seat and the bow.

if it's possible, should i drill into and then use bolts and glue, or could i just use a heavy duty screw, or what?

thanks in advance!

You'll probably need to mount the seat to a wide pedestal, at least 1 foot square to distribute load, and afix to the deck with some sort of hardware that can go through the glass deck and hold from underneath (like the plant hooks used for hanging plants). I'm no BW expert, someone who has done this will chime in hopefully. Good luck....

Check out http://www.mcmaster.com T-Style-For Hollow Walls & Ceilings. There are several styles of toggle bolts there that should work for you to mount the seat.

Very bad idea, Munk.

Better idea is to get one of the pedestal seat bases made for Boston Whalers. It mounts to the bulkhead behind the bowlocker and is bolted through.

I put one on one of my 13s and have one on my Montauk.

Email me and I will E you some pics.
