Re: allen hydroplane plans
There's a sight called 'Antique Hydroplanes' It has a bazillion pictures of old hydros. Most are the big ones, but you could probably get a idea of what you want.

I use a pair of air traps comming off the back of the sponsons and have a turn fin on each one on my 'D' hydro. This one has air traps on both sides, but only one turn fin incorporated at the rear of the Port sponson.

A large 3/16ths or 1/4 inch thick Aluminum fin directly in front of the engine about 1/3 of the way forward works well too.

For one on the rear of a sponson, Clark Craft, the kit and plan boat co. sells one that's pretty decent.

If ya want one that bolts under the hull and get stuck let me know. I've got Alum. angle stock left over from this boat, and could find a piece of plate at the local scrap yard, then cut and weld one up to flush mount if ya can't find one somewhere else. It ain't no big deal, it shouldn't be much bigger than about the size of half a dinner plate.

Do a search for hydroplanes, there are several sights for the smaller class boats that have lots of pictures. That'd probably do ya the most good in gettin ideas for re-doing yours.

Ed.
