Searched the web but couldn't find much info on these.Does anybody here have any pics they can post of these boats.Anybody ever restore one, or know of good web sites.
Thanks

I had been looking for a 20 to 24 foot boat to restore and the 20 Bertram was on the top of my list. Do a web search on Bertram Moppie

searaysrv :
If this boat is indeed a Bertram "Moppie" and you can buy it for a reasonable price, and it isn't a diaster....BUY IT. This is one of the most wanted old boats out there, the history behind it is really interesting. It virtually launched the Bertram Yacht Company. Keep us posted I am interested in this. Good Luck!!! :)

Re: bertram 20

Searay,

The Bertram 20 was released in 2 forms, the Moppie and Bahia Mar. I have a 1972 Bahia Mar. In Australia they were originally fitted with an in-line 6 150hp, later the 165hp and were optioned with the 888 V8 (188hp), I've re-powered mine with a 4.3l V6. The earlier ones had fold-down seats at the back and aluminium tube frame driver and passenger seats, The later ones had no seats at the back and pederstal mounted seats for driver and passenger.

Re: bertram 20

The Bertram Moppie was one of the neatest boats ever built. If there is any chance whatsoever of salvaging it, jump at the chance. There are still a few around here and everyone stops what they're doing to look at them when they go by. Everyone who knows boats, that is.

Re: bertram 20

searaysrv,
The moppie hull came in several sizes (I think up to 36')and configurations. The "standard" moppie had just a foredeck and windshied. The original moppie was 25' and THE deep vee boat everyone copied in the early 60s. Like already posted, if you find one cheap get it.

Re: bertram 20

I worked for Bertram back in 1965. The quality of what went below the deck was every bit as good as the stuff you could see. Then they had a 20', 25' and 31' line. One a day for the 20s - one every couple for the 25s and I think the 31s were about every two weeks. The larger Bertrams (>35") were built one at a time but the others were a productionline operation. Great riding boats due to both the hull design and the overkill in construction.
