Ok guys.. I ripped out the floor in my 16 foot fiberglass boat. But now I have to get the boat out of the garage. The transom is SOLID. Is it ok the put my 80 Hp Merc M800 on the boat with the floor gone? Again.. the tansom is very solid. I wont be driving down the road like this.. just moving from the garage to the driveway.. but it is bitter cold here
Thanks!

Shold not be a problem however, did you remove the top part of the hull? If you removed the top part the answer is no.

I did remove the top, but its going back on. Just wont be riveted. I would rather just leave the motor where it is.. suspended from the rafters. BUT I dont know how to properly disconnect the throttle and shifter cables.

Have you ever pulled O/B cables? If no- get someone who absolutly knows how to do it. Even if it costs a 6 pack.

NO I havent. Thats why Im afraid to try lol... Gah this sucks. Looks like I will just have to throw the motor back on.

Would it be a problem to take them out of the "Control pack"? By that I mean the throttle/shifter box where the key goes in.

the cables usually have the same style of connections at the control box end. it would be easier to take them off at the engine. how do they connect? mine just clip on and have a little (R) clip and washer to stop them coming off. if this is the case just label which is which and take care not to lose the little clips!
dont forget the battery cables, main engine wiring loom and fuel line as well!!

can you just lay the motor down on the inside of the hull? I assume that it's on a trailer...sl

How about with the top on,but not riveted, lay a couple of 2x6's across the gunwales and lay the OB there. I am assuming this is temporary. Thus being moved outside, you can cover it all up. The OB being up higher might aid in draining rain/snow off.
And I need to add, It was 80 degrees here yesterday, however there is frost at night. go figure...sl

Those cables just Pop out of their holders.........
You've got your Hull Entirely Stripped........
And You're Scared of a couple of Clips..????
Disconnecting from the Control Box is Much More Complicated..... Pull them off the Motor...............

Pull the motor,+ Get it Out of your Way.........

JasonJ has photos of his motorstand around here Somewhere.....
You could build a copy in an hour or so......

sl,
Hows Your Project comming ???
