i baught an 8 foot keel shield and i was happy......then i read the instructions and it said not to use the keel shield if your trailer has keel rollers ....who in the world dosent have keel rollers on there trailer.....they should put that on the front of the package.......any way has any one had any good luck with keelshield and had rollers ......any exp good or bad would help as well as a mounting technique ,,,i guess the problem is the weight if the boat /on the shield while rolling will cause it to come undone from the keel....

Re: keel shield and bow rollers

I think they are another way for someone to extract money from us, thats why the instructions, about there use and installation are so vague. Take it back and tell them if you didn't have keel rollers it wouldn't need any protection---Bob

Bigbad,

That or maybe sitting on the rollers causes it to get dents that affect performance.... either way it does sound odd.

Re: keel shield and bow rollers

That is a vague warning. They don't want the boat sitting on th Keelshield on the rollers. On most boats, there is not a roller way up front on the keel. They just don't want the weight of the boat sitting on the keelshield sitting on the roller. It will deform the shield over time and may cause it to detach.

It can handle rolling over the rollers, just don't have it resting on the rollers.

They work great- I will add that. I put one on my last boat and it was one of the first things I bought for my current boat. I can beach without fear of ruining my keel and I can load people at the ramp as well. Very good investment for your boat. I won't have another boat without one.

UFM82
