Hi all, sorry a few Qs I need to understand better before I start getting really busy in the boat.
I have almost gotten to the stage where I can start planning to fit the floor on my 'Aussi project boat, a Bertram type hull but a 18.5 footer.
I am looking for any sugestions regarding how to best plumb fuel tank (2) lines and where to place the breather thru hulls? also how close to the water line etc also any advice 'do and donts' on earth straps. The fuel tanks will be filled from the floor.
As soon as I find somewhere to host a pic I will post the latest so far of my rebuild

Cheers, Even

First do not foam the tank in or it will create a condensation problem. The vent needs to be located out of the way and at a height that will not let waves wash over it. Never run it through the transom.

Thanks for the replys, Yep foam is a no no, the boat will have a full pod. I have seen photos of boats with their thru hulls near water line and assume they use a riser loop, not sure.
Gotta get this bit right because there will be no going back to fix it.
any advice welcome,

Here is a link to the project so far:

http://www.shareaproject.com/projectThumbs.php?p=28

thanks,

Even15

i haven't heard that one yet, my tank is made from aluminum, it was foamed in in 1985, other than being a real bi__tch to remove, its in perfect shape.

as far as the vent they make vents just for this purpose

we are talking non removable tank(s) right like for an inboard engine? I don't think you want to enclosing removable outboard tanks. i don't think

i foamed mine back in

Hi Jimmy the problem with foam is that it can hold water at the junction of tank and foam, some get away with it some dont. I will leave it alone just in case!
The tanks will be aluminium and underfloor with full access although the routing of the breather/fuel lines will not be servicable as the pipe they will be within will be within 2 part foam with flooring over that.
I can find vents easy enough, placing them right is harder, any ideas?
cheers even125
