Not exactly clear. Transparent yes, but not clear.

I wouldn't expect it would work for a shine. Like any epoxy, the UV rays will cause it to crack, flake, and chip, unless it has a protective coating (paint)
DON'T use it on the outside in wide areas. It's difficult to spread smoothly. Besides, it's not really clear, sort of a milky honey color. It dries a little bit clearer.

Rabid is right, the UV will attack it.
I used Gluvit on the outside of the hull then primed with two coats of zinc chromate and finished with Three coats of marine expoy sanding between each coat. But you must roll on gluvit with a short nap rolled covering a small area along with a brush to tip any over lap ridges.
Someone put gulvit on the bottom of a flat bottomed aluminum dory I have and it all but peeled off. When I turn it upside down soon I will scrape the rest off. Chief
I brushed Gluvit on a 32' strip planked sailboat bottom. 5 yrs later it was still like new and worked great. It is more flexible than standard epoxy resin. Good stuff
Rolled it on the bottom of my 21' as a pre-bottom paint barrier coat when what was left of the gelcoat had to be sanded off...

It'sa b!tch to sand...
