Yesterday I atually had some help.
KeelGuard installed.
Water pump replaced.
Fuel pump replaced.
Throttle/shift replaced and checked.
Air intake screwed in properly and gasketed.
Front Nav light replaced but not tested as wiring is still AMU. All messed up. :D

Its real nice to have a brother who knows how to help.

Launching tomorrow no matter if the wiring works or not. I have an air horn and am not going at night.

All other functions work. Tilt/trim, warning horn for overheat, and engine.

Hopefully I will get some pictures underway!!!

TTFN

The fuses are fine there are three wires out but only 1 ground return!!!

Its getting wierd again.

Oh well I am going anyway I have worked so long and I just want to cruise the lake for 3 hours or so.

Re: Update on Project long Haul

Realgun,

While looking at your project photos I saw something that I need help with. What I need to know is if those are special marine grade rocks you're using? Are they more expensive than regular rocks? What will happen if I substitute regular rocks? Should I use poly or epoxy resin with marine rocks? Does it matter if you solder or crimp with marine rocks? Do marine rocks absorb water or do they need to be sealed on all sides with resin like regular rocks? How much flotation is needed with marine rocks? Can you use bottles & ping-pong balls or do you have to use foam with marine rocks? What about the finish on marine rocks? Can they be polished out with a buffer like regular rocks or do I have to wet sand & paint them with marine paint? Can I use a roller on marine rocks or do I have to use a brush and tip? What about trim? Can I get away with a Dolfin with marine rocks or do I need Smart Tabs?

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.

:D :D :D

PS, its looking good.

Re: Update on Project long Haul

Shh I got the rocks when it was to muddy to get wood. LOL Actually the rocks come from the Forest and you can pick them up but not the ones on the road like some idiots! And they are put back in the yard so gravity can do it thing there and not my boat. Also every year the CUTs they made to make the road to get to the forest sheds a ton of rocks. Sometimes they need a bulldozer to push them off the road. You are allowed to take these.
Most yards here grow rocks not grass. not enough water. :D

BTW those "Rocks" weigh 45-50 Lbs.

Re: Update on Project long Haul

Realgun, the boat is looking great, it will be the nicest Bayliner out there when you're done. If you haven't already, think about ventilating the battery compartment. You sure don't want Hydrogen gas building up inside of there... Maximerc's project has some nice vents in the storage compartments. Also pay attention to how water will run out of compartments and get to the bilge in the event you take on water somehow, unless it can't get in to begin with.

Your story about the first outing reminded me of my boss.. did the same thing with the steering! LOL!

Re: Update on Project long Haul

I will build the hatches with a handle in them. It will be a box with a curve the ends of the curve will rest on the box corners. Where you put your hand in the middle of the C it will vent under the seat. Ingenous I think> :) There wil be a 4 inch by 1 inch x 15/32 inch gap. Big enough and at the top of the box to boot.

Water cannot get in the seats on top. IF water were to get in then the boats half sunk anyway.

Man 1 more thing I have to manufacture!

Re: Update on Project long Haul

I saw your piece on installing the Perco gas fill. That white one is the same piece I plan to use when I put in a perment gas tank.

Got a few questions for ya:

Does it seal well?

Is it a flimsy or solid piece?

How well does it handle the venting while being filled?

Does it cause the gas nozzel to kick off when on automatic fill?

Thanks buddy.

Got a few questions for ya:

Does it seal well? It seams to seal fine however i will be moving it up higher as the water can get over the transome in that area.

Is it a flimsy or solid piece? The lid is solid but seems a wee bit flimsy but when closed is solid.

How well does it handle the venting while being filled? It seems to vent fine.

Does it cause the gas nozzel to kick off when on automatic fill? I have not filled the tank all the way yet but i got me a ball thing that is supposed to turn off the automatic pumps. I cannot use it as I mix fuel and oil.

Thanks buddy.

Re: Update on Project long Haul

Realgun,

Thanks for the info. It's so hard to tell what a product is like from looking at pictures. It looks like it is the only solid white molded combo gas fill & vent on the market. I don't want to get a chrome unit with everything else being white. And I don't want another painted piece if I can help it.

I plan to put the gas guage to the right of the wheel, might add a volts guage while I'm at it.

When I pull the cover off the boat, I'll post a pic of the new wheel.

See ya,

Mark.
