The manufacturer has a web place where you can look it up I'm sure. Poly don't stick to much, unless you spill it on something you don't want it to stick to...Chief ;)

Neither epoxy or polyester resin will stick to Starboard. You should either attach things mechanicaly as if it were wood (screws or bolts) or if necessary 3M 5200 will stick. Starboard is HDPE I believe.

well here is my idea anyways:

i was thinking of making a small outboard bracket out of the STARBOARD stuff, and then completely encapsulating it with glass all the way around, inside and out, so that all layers off glass were completely overlapped and coevered.

for two reasons:
1. to keep out ANY moisture
2. to provide added strength and support for the motor.

i would just use wood, but im afraid that it may leak at some time down the road, and this way, if it DOES spring a leak, it will still work.

Double or tripple up on the starboard. If the glass don't stick it will be a woftam. Chief ;)

myoutboards
According to a search, it is Not a good canidate for the epoxy. One has a piece of starboard installed by the boat builder, epoxy and gelcoat, and the seam cracked.
And this from their site:

Can King StarBoard be painted?

No. Even polyurethanes will not hold to the material for very long. King StarBoard is available in a wide range of colors to complement most common gel coat colors.
---------------------------------------------------
If paint won't stick, it is doubtful that the epoxy will either.

I would be selective about where I used Starboard. Its a high density polyethylene (HDPE) I believe and although great for some things not so good for others. It will sag over time if used for unsupported structures that span distances. I have used it to build boxes and covers and panels and such where it works well. I'm not sure it would work well on high stress areas like a motor bracket. Its not cheap either.

Exactly. Painted by work bench with a nice grey oil base paint two weeks ago. Drip some polyester resin on it, after its hard I try to flick the little hard drops off and the paint comes with it.
