should i install the keelshield to old gelcoat /fiberglass then paint around it or ...paint the hull first then install the keelshield over the fresh paint...
I would paint first, then let the paint cure completely before applying the keel guard. I assume that you are not talking about an anti-foulant bottom coat paint. Keel guard cannot be applied to those types of paint.
You should contact the manufacturer to see what they recommend, but I would think that you would want to apply the shield to the fiberglass and not the paint. Those things stick pretty ferociously and I would worry about paint coming off. <br /><br /> I would call them and ask.
