Hello,
I'm looking for some advice, Please...
I have had this 23' boat for several years now and have not been able to put the time into restoring it like I had wanted/planned. The basic boat/hull was in nice shape. There were some soft spots in the deck, which I started to tear out/gut. But as time goes on, I'm having less and less time for it!...
I hate to junk it but... I need the space for my growing business...

Are there Boat "Junkyards" out there that I can take it to Or "Free" ads for a good home, I can place somewhere?

It's already sitting on a brand new 2003 gal. trailer, which I'd like to sell.

Thank you,
Bryan

You can place an add on iboats in the "for Sale" section and in your local paper. Before you toss it, I'd check with places like fiberglassics.com to see if any of those guys might want it.

spots

More than once here I have read posts by people like you who have listed their "junk boat" on e-bay with no reserve.

Just be sure to emphasize that any and all shipping charges are to born by the buyer.

People will bid on it...and rather than you paying the junk man to haul it away...the buyer will pay you to take it! Seems to work way more often than not...and you have little to lose in trying.

And, it gives what was a quality boat yet another chance at being restored and enjoyed.

Thanks for reading, Chuck

PS...I have a T-bird myself...a '78 model. A friend of mine gave it to me...for free :)

Definitely look into finding a buyer for it, as the Formula T-Birds are nice boats when done up right. It may have some historical signifigance, too, having come out of Thunderboat Row "back in the day"... Heck, if I were closer and had the space for a 23-footer, I'd probably jump on it myself...
- Scott

I've got a 69 Formula Thunderbird F-190 that I rescued from a similar fate last year. The owner had intended to restore it but finally realized it would never get done. He had, however, done a nice job of preparing the engine and drive for inactivity and I got it up and running with very little trouble. Had a few cosmetic issues but was actually a lot of fun workin on it. I've always thought that, styling wise, the Formulas were great looking boats and somewhat ahead of their time.

To CPO Thunderroad: your 1969 F-190 looks just like my 1968 'Bird so have a question for you. Do you know where to locate specs, such as weight, for her? Just a bit of history on my boat: my Dad gave her to me after he had her for many years. He had converted her from I/O to OB & removed the decking/windshield. When I got her, I installed a Center console & a 70HP Yamaha and completely refinished her exterior, flooring, gunwales & transom. I even found name decals as the original ones had cracked over time. I let her sit for several years when we adopted a 21' Mako w/a but now am going back to the best little boat ever! Still have to restore the engine but that's no big deal. Thanks!

Re: 69 Formula Thunderbird... Restore or Put to Rest

I recently came to a conclusion that my boat would not be finished as well. It required too much work and I didn't have the time. I have gone a long way to parting it out and even made a good amount of money on it (well over double what I paid so far). The local landfill is willing to take it from me for $100/ton. I plan to scrap the remaining good parts and toss the hull into the landfill.

I have also given a boat away on Craigslist... NOT an easy task!

Hmmmmm over a 4 year old thread ........

SpecialK1......... in the future if you find an older thread in the archives it is better to start a new thread and send the poster a Private Message..... and in this case it is another iboats member.

Welcome to iboats. Do not be afraid to start a new post and ask if anyone has a boat like your's ;)

Gentlemen please do not hijack :D Start new posts.

I will close this post and left it slowly drift back into the archives.
