I got a transom on one of my smaller aluminum boats that bends. To me it seems to bend rather to easy with just a troll motor on it. The wood in it seems fine though. I was going to but an engine on it but im worried that it will crack if I do. I got another alumacraft boat in which I am in the process of rewelding the transom b/c it did crack. And I cut out new wood for it. But to me it just seems like it will need more renforcement than just the wood. You guys think it's fine or do you agree? Is it suppose to have some play there?

Mine was like that once (14' jon) and in cleaning around the joints I found cracks. You probably don't have a problem yet, but like any metal bending back and forth over a period of time it will fail. I would brace it and weld it for reenforcement. You will be happier down the road. Good luck.

Check for cracks in the aluminum or stress spots.<br />If there arent any throw a piece of treated ply on inside and a small one on the outside. saves the metal and adds alot of support for a gas engine.

Yeah, There is one already on it. Maybe I just need to replace it.
