You could try one of these, but you will have no foot control(Obviously). The pontoon one looks like it would work fine. Just slip you shaft in, close it up and adjust the stop coller.

web page

I suggest you measure the shaft or hold the trolling motor next to the deck to see if the shaft is long enough to keep the prop in the water. Most transom mounts are too short. There is a fix for a short shaft but that can be along trial and error story or a trip to a repair facility.

Reversing the head is easy. Just remove the 4 underside screws that hold the top of the head on. Remove the top and you will see a screw that holds the shaft to the head. Remove that screw and gently turn the head 180 degrees. Now you have a bow mount hand control TC.

You have to figure out how to get a bow mount that will fit the shaft diameter or figure out a collar to fit on the shaft so your bow mount will hold it.

What ever you do, if you unplug the wires, make an exact diagram of which wire connects to which plug at the top of the head.

Hi, Caldog.

There are bow mounts that your transom type troller will clamp to with no modifications except reversing the head/handle.

I saw one that was ingeniously rigged like this:

Minn Kota quick release plate for PD and AP models was mounted. Then a 'toon type front mount was bolted to the releasable plate and the troller was clamped to that. When he took it off, the bow was clean, without the mounting 2x6 sticking up to trip or to poke holes in the cover.

Good luck. :)

Hey Caldog,

There is a guy on E-bay selling used motorguide bow mounts. I bought one from him for $58.00 with shipping. it has a couple of scratches, but I figure this is bound to happen eventually with a brand new one.

I made my own bow mount bracket for my transom mount trolling motor from two steel shelf brackets, and a piece of lumber. Not as fancy as the pre-fab units, but only cost me about $6.
