I'm going to buy the Original Charger from Ray'sTackle.com which take the excess charge from the truck alternator and charges the boat batteries while you drive. Anyway, I was wondering is it a good practice to charge your battery through the trolling motor plug at the front of the boat? I wanted to do that so I wouldn't have to run a wire all the way to the back of the boat when there is already one in place and hidden out of the way. I thought about it and don't really see any problem with it since all it is just a wire that run straight from the trolling motor battery to the plug. However, at the plug panel it have a warning saying to do not charge battery through this plug. Are there any kind of fuse along the wire from the battery to the plug normally? My crank and trolling batteries are wired seperately. I have a Nitro 700LX. I would like to get some feedback on the Stay-N-Charge system if anyone have or is using this system. It sure beats dragging an extension cord around and trying to find a place to plug it in.
