Garmin mapsource software

Does the US Roads and Rec. software come locked? If it is locked do you have to buy the unlock code?<br /><br />I can buy the Road and Rec. software on ebay but they say it is locked. This is version 3.03 and was woundering if a person could get the unlock code.<br /><br />Thanks for all of the good help<br />Larry

The USR&R that I had was not locked, Larry. I don't remember what version it was.<br /><br />The only SW I had from Mapsource that required an unlock code was Fishing Hotspots. I had to buy codes for each area I wanted unlocked. I understand that the same is true for BlueCharts.<br /><br />I hate to have to pay big bux for a CD, then have to pay more big bux to be able to use it. <br /><br />I have seen obsolete (not completely up-to-date) versions of USR&R, and others, on eBay for cheap.<br /><br />The Garmin International site may have the right info for you. They do list specs, etc. for obsolete products.<br /><br />Good luck.
