Hello all,

Can I use two fishfinders at the same time on my boat ? Cause I just bought a new fishfinder of better quality and would like to keep the old one and set it's transducer on my bow mounted electric motor. The 2 transducers are operating on the same frequency 200-khz and I now I can't install the 2 ducers on the transom and have the two fishfinders on at the same time. But what about having one on the transom and one on the bow mount motor, my boat is 16.5 feet long, is it far enough to have both on at the same time ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Smokey ;)

Its all going to depend upon the signal strength, cone angle and sensitivity of your units. I have an 18 foot boat with 2 units. One unit & transducer is up front on the trolling motor, the other in the rear with 'ducer mounted on the transom. If I'm in water 23' or less, no problem. Deeper and they interfere. The deeper I go the worse it gets.

Well thanks for the answers JD and 18rabbit, I guess I will find out by trying and see, if I could use them up to 20 feet and less I'll be OK, a lot of my fishing is done at around 15 to 22 feet

Smokey ;)

I done it on a 19 foot bass boat and it works ok in shallow water. (under 25 feet) Deeper water they interfear. One thing to do is tilt your front transducer foward some. Since it is only used at low speed it will work fine. However your fish arches will lose the back side of your fish arch. Me I am looking for structure and depth not fish.

Thanks Boatist,

That is a good tip,(tilt) myself also I am looking for structure and depth, and it is also more to please my lifetime fishing partener ( my wife ) most of the time she sits on the front deck and she likes to see the depth and look at the structures.

Thanks

Smokey ;)
