Just recently purchased a new Lowrance X125 fish finder. Currently am running an old Garmin 160 on the dash(transom mount). Opinions on where to put the X125. Put it in the front (trolling motor mount) or move the 160 to the front?

I have my better unit on the dash. It has more power, higher rez, bigger screen. I use it 80% of the time unless I'm standing up and casting or jigging from the front deck then I turn on the other one. Depends upon which location you use the most and from which position/location you do the most scouting from.

hey fluke i just did the same thing new x125 on bow and moved another to console so far i like the 125 on the bow very well. we do a lot of fishing off points due to heavy pressure. only my opinion. you can go to lowrance.com and download x125 on your computer and play with it that way as well. awsome unit

88 ebbtide dynatrak 180 merc 150 blackmax

That is a hard question and one I think you will need to answer yourself. When I fish on my friends 19 foot bass boat I use the back depth finder more to locate fish. When actually fishing use front depth finder just to see depth and structure as I do not think I have ever caught a bass directly under the boat. If I have caught one under the boat or in the transducer cone it was in winter when we often fish as deep as 60 feet and real slow. However the one with the best sunlight screen may be what you want up front.

Your best locator (fastest response with best resolution) should probably go on the dash so it can be used at speed and while while "searching". If it is speed and temp capable, those features are of little use up front. Once you locate fish, the lesser locator up front will work fine to keep you on the fish.
