I have a 14' boat w/70 HP outboard that has just one group 27 battery. The accessories used are fishfinder and sometimes a the am/fm. The bilge and lights are rarely used. I need advice on what type of marine battery to replace it with, deep cycle or starting? Seems like either would suffice...

Thanks in advance!

Dual purpose would probably be best. If you plan on running the fishfinder and the am/fm all day you may want a 2 battery setup.

You want a dual purpose just like brian already suggested.

Personaly I,d go with a deep cycle....your only starting a 70 hp outboard, and won't need all that many amps. A group 27 deep-cycle should have more than enough ccr"s, will last a lot longer, and give you more reserve capacity. Just my opinion.

Jim

I would also go with a Deep cycle battery. Your 70Hp motor porbably does not require any more current than a trolling motor to start. Group 27 deep cycle you can usually get some great deals on.
