Started the Bath remodel, only been wanting it for maybe 20 years ;)

First problem, the drain comes out to about the center of the cross member. Its a 2x10, then 3/4 Tongue and Groove, and then 3/8 plywood. Drain is standard 4 inch opening which connects to 2 inch PVC. All drains are currently copper so copper to PVC transition

The good part is there is a bath of same size directly below this one, so support wall is directly below.

Ideas for a fix

Looks like they make a 2 inch offset shower drain, so that's my ticket. Might need to barely get into the top of the cross member

I built my own shower pan in the concrete and used a whole schluter system.

They have semi-custom pans

Also did a curbless shower pan thinking ahead when I get to the walker stage in life

I'm using schluter foam board on the walls then PVC panels. It will resemble marble sort of. Going full height, so also will be removing paneling and installing drywall

Did the floating floor membrane under whole floor but the shower (schluter membrane). Did the walls in schluter membrane over cement board. Subway tiles on the walls. The listello matches the kitchen backsplash and the shower is river rock.

Dont want to ever have to redo it

Bad, Good and Bad news

Bad - The 2 inch offset requires at least a 2 inch depth and more like 2.5 inch. So this would cut the top of the joist which I wasn't going to to.

Good - Found out I misinterpreted the base directions so was able to move the drain center a 1/2 closer to the wall. The Kerdi board sits on top of the base edge and not behind it. Got the base installed

Bad - Took me 1.5 days just to redo drain plumbing. Tried not to damage to much in basement Bath and that was just a time consumer. Did have to cut into the side of the joist about 3/8 inch to allow for clearance

Have you looked at the long skinny drains that go along the wet wall?

I looked at it initially, as I wanted a drain on two walls in event the ceiling and massage schnozzles we're going (I may or may not have more than 2gpm). However the admiral wanted the drain directly below the rain head

Only reason I know anything about them

Oh yes I saw that prior, but went with "simple" base :censored: because we were thinking about selling the place. If we planned to keep all along I would have done the hidden drain and no curb somewhat like you did.

Got a couple sheets of drywall (not enough for entire bath) and need to put on ceiling prior to installing wall panels. More taping but that's just a muddy subject

If you were closer I'd donate the left over drywall and cement board.

Regarding mud ... Finally got good enough to minimize sanding.

Have 3 rooms left with popcorn ceiling..... Lots of sanding

Big issue in small town is no one knows what Kerdi board is, so its an hour drive to get more. Over time I have gotten pretty good at mudding, but to old to hold a sheet up. Have a drywall screw gun but have yet to get the hang of it. Mine is the first Gen and not the one using screw strips

I'm old school with a 25 year old cordless craftsman drill and a box of screws (a step below your screw gun). Used beer to bribe the step son into holding the panels

Found I had to order Kerdi/Schluter from build.com. Local store that carries any of it is 45 minutes away and only had membrane, drain collars and mud

We did get a killer deal on the floor tile. Think it was about $1.50/sq ft and free shipping. They pallet jacked it into the garage

The Admiral scored a Delta Tub filler for $400 that was new in an open box. However the shower system was a big chunk of BOAT units from Build.com

I did build the cabinets as what the Admiral had in her head was custom and at the time, couldn't wait the 20 weeks
