Garmin 76cs best handheld GPS for boating?

I will be using it 60% for boating, 30% hiking and 10% driving.<br /><br />Should I choose another model?

Have a look at the Fortuna GPSmart.<br />You can up/download to computer<br />Can also be conected to a laptop and with some software can be turned into a chartplotter.

I have the 76cs and I think it is a great unit for a handheld, if not one of the best. I don't think it is too hard on batteries. You just need a charger and always have a fresh set charged if you need them. I also always keep spare AA batteries on board just in case. It has a lot of internal memory (115 mb) and you can download nautical, topo and city maps from your PC with the cable that comes with it.

Lowrance iFinder H20 is excellent. If you are really into hiking, the iFinder Hunting version is same as the H20, but comes with topo maps of the us mainland.
