Can a bount mount trolling motor be easily mounted yourself, or should it be done in the "shop" by a pro? What length shaft would I need for a bow mount on a Key West 1720CC?
THanks GNFG

Re: Mounting a trolling motor

Thanks Rick, I have not put my new boat in the water yet;but,I want to buy the trolling motor and mount it before I head to Homosassa. I've got an email in to Key West Boats to see if they have an estimate of distance between the deck and the water with a fisherman up front.GNFG

You can use these Isolator Bolts at BPS. The rubber expands as you tighten 'em to fill the hole. Might have to be replaced in 10 or 12 years.

The best install I ever did was with these, also I used those little motor mount looking things that hold an air conditioning condenser isolated in some cars, between the deck and the motor. Most have never noticed them, but they are sometimes round and sometimes square and about 1" accross and about 1/2-3/4" high. They are just tiny rubber vibration isolation mounts. You can get them at the wrecking yard.

I kid you not, that was the quietest trolling motor I ever had, and they take up shock also in case you bump something.
