Have a Motorguide Model 750 trolling motor. The prop shaft (actually the armature shaft) slips about the armature assembly. The motor runs but the prop shaft can be held by hand. Any ideas how to repair and stop the shaft from slipping? I have been unable to locate a new armature assembly part # KF3207-01.

When you say, "prop shaft slips", do you mean the motor not turning when you hold the shaft?

Re: Motorguide Prop Shaft Slips

That is weird. In my experience with DC motors, the armature and the shaft are one pice and should not move independently. It maybe the armature shaft in your motor is connected to the external propeller shaft via a gear mechanism within the motor housing. In such case, the teeth on any of the gear pieces may be worn providing no contact thus explains the slip.

Me, I would open up the motor and investigate further before I toss it.
