I have a 95 Evinrude 150 Intruder The top right cyclinder gets just enough water in it to
foul out the spark plug. The heads are good no cracks. I've replaced the O rings on the heads.
Is there another way water can get in the cyclinder? short of a cracked block or leaking sleeve?
Is there a treatment for a cracked block or leaking sleeve? short of a new block.
Any suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks

Mark O

I have heard that a "glue joint" during manufacture is a common cause of this. There is no fix if this is the problem. Do a search and you'll see numerous threads.
Good Luck

Also, have the head checked to see if it's warped.

c/6

Hooty

Re: 95' 150 Evinrude water problem

There is company in Clearwater Florida, that repairs the block. Someone post phone number. I have not realy look at this problem, but if I did not want to spend much money for repairs, I would remove the gear case, connect a bldge pump to the water tube, plug the tattle tale, and try to maintain 15 lbs water pressure in block. Use about 5/7 gallons water in tub, large enough to catch all water that comes out of exhaust tube. A double dose of your faverate block sealer, run engine, keep pumping the water/sealer thru block, while watching engine temp. The sealer probley will work better with hot water. When finished clean thermostats and tattle tale hose.

Re: 95' 150 Evinrude water problem

Mark, You are correct about the glue seam leak. I had the same problems with my '92 150. I eventually lost that piston and sleeve due to the water washing the oil off the cylinder wall. I pulled the sleeve and then pressured up the block with air and sprayed a soap/water mix to find the area leaking. I then ground out the cracked area and JB Welded it. I then pressured up the block to 35 Lbs. to make sure I sealed the leak. Put it back together with a new piston and sleeve. I've had running for 2 months with no problems. Don't know how long this "FIX" will last so I'm croosing my fingers.
