Nugs...if ya' are interested in do-it-yer-self repairs, get a manual for your engine. OEM is preferred for the more deeper problems. Generics are good for everyday PM type maint. Search for Ken Cook Co. for a reprint of the original service manual or go to the iboats store for a generic.<br />I would bet the rectifier will need replaced. The stator, under the flywheel, may also need replaced. Seeing smoke does not bode well for electrical systems.<br />The fastest and most expensive way is to take it to a boat shop. The slower way, get a manual and fix it yerself.
