Evinrude 28 h. Died suddenly - No Spark

My Evinrude motor has had a problem of dying while idling. Took to a mechanic and he rebuilt the carberator. It still died at idle. Yesterday, when cruising at speed it died suddenly and won't start. There is no spark to the plugs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Ahoy, Than. The first thing I would suspect would be the ignition on-off switch or "kill" switch.<br /><br />You need to tell us the year or model number of your engine, because we need to know what ignition system it has.<br /><br />Red sky at night.. .<br />JB

Hi,<br /><br />Thanks for the reply. The motor is a 1987 Evinrude, 28 Horse. It says it is a 28 SPL, Model Number: E28ESLCUC. Does that help?<br /><br />Thanks again.
