Got lucky.
6" of dry snow to handle on car roof. Broom job. Pushed it off roof onto edge of long driveway. Geezers get creative. Did not use the blower. Just drove car up and down driveway. Shoveled crusty road plow pile into weeds
If I had a brain ? I would have put the car into the empty garage !! DUUUHH Wife brought a Ibuprofen as a preventive .

What do you all consider cold? It isn't cold in Minnesota until it is below 0
Had -29 Friday Night. Gonna be a Blistering 5 later today
Saturday Night was about -23, but still had freezing Rain. Ice was about 1/4" thick on the Car
Made for some exciting Driving Sunday

born in Luziana, bitter cold was high 20's and a bad winter consisted of a max of 2 weeks.

now live in Pa., bitter cold is teens, my opinion, and the winters are bad to me 'cause this "stuff" can run into early May at times.

eagerly waiting for the Blue Angels in Annapolis again!

Teens beg for a long sleeve 1/4 zip sweatshirt. Single digits are times to break out a windbreaker or jacket. 0 and below is a heavy jacket. That is for normal daily activity when not outside for more than 30-45 minutes at a time. Longer stretches outside beg for an update on the jacket …

Went on a week long ski trip years ago.
Jan 1982 ?
The warmest day was +5 F.
Nights were cold.
We left a day early as it was -35 F and wind chills were- xxxxx?
The state patrol closed the gates at the edge of town and followed us for 50 miles.

Gee, that snowstorm in NJ was about as benign as can be. We did get about 6 inches, but the wind was calm, so no drifts. Also, it was easy to shovel, not heavy, but not powder either.

The strange thing was that after a whole day of melting, when the snow was nearly gone, the township plowed the bare road and then salted it. Luckily today's monsoon has washed the salt away.

While the water keeps us relatively warm, it also keeps us humid year round.

28F with 70% humidity and a stiff NW wind at 15 kts is miserable

I agree you get cold gulf moisture and temps in the 30's it is a miserable cold. In Minnesota we have a dry cold, same theory as dry heat.

I think I would like to spend a winter such as you guys describe. If I want snow more than 2 inches thick I gotta wait 20 years or go find a mountain .
I recall it snowing more when I was a kid . Probly just as well because peeps ( not all of them ) round here loose the ability to drive and their common sense as soon as there is a dusting of snow or frost . There's cars in hedges ,in ditches ,up on the footpath ,upside down in paddocks .
Invercargill's north road is a winner .......some (council roading engineer ) dumbarse decided that a porous asphalt road surface would help drain rain water off the road ....which it did , but when it freezes all the ground water wicks up thru the asphalt and freezes into a nice uniform layer of ice and the panel beaters have a windfall.
Stay warm guys🙂

Any Time the Humidity goes above 30% regardless of Temp, it is Miserable
