100hp johnson new user

hey everyone<br />I have a 100hp Johnson 50th anniversay model runs good,<br />what year would this be 1972,1976 or somthing else, also<br />what is it worth in $$$ appx.<br /><br />2nd question i have a 6hp johnson that wants to surge<br />on me, kinda like it gets gas then doesnt then gets gas again ect.<br />Points are good, spark good, its a two cylinder not sure<br />how old maybe 15-25 years.

Hi, Coop.<br /><br />You need to give us the model number of your engine. Then someone can give you the year. <br /><br />It is too old to place a value on without looking at it and giving it a physical.<br /><br />Your 6hp sounds like it has water in the fuel tank.<br /><br />Red sky at night. . .<br />JB :)

That sounds familiar..<br />your engine is a 72 model, 100ESL72.<br />(To verify that, look at the transcom bracket on the port side of your engine... there will or should be a small plate there with your engines details.<br /><br />I have the same motor..<br /><br />I picked mine up pretty cheap, but I have spent alot of money on it and it looks like new now.<br /><br />I probably wouldn't part for it for less then a grand. (500USD) and probably not even then. Just replacing the powerpack (which I did) costs a significant portion of that..<br /><br />If its working and you can find someone that needs it, then it might be worth a good price.. depends on lots of variables.
