First of all I would like to say what a wounderfull site this is, not only for the good advice, education on motors ect, THANKS.
Also followed advice on starting my Evinrude 88SPL
as I use to give it full choke and pump the key twice, cuss and sware, now choke 1/2, and hold the key in, well it starts the first time, again thanks. I have a gauge that is not marked at all.
When the motor is off the needle is to the far left, when running to the far right, what is it?
Battery perhaps?

Re: What is gauge 4?

Hi 88SPL

A battery/voltage guage would move up when the key is turned to the "on" position BEFORE the engine starts. The fuel guage would do the same, although should obviously come down as you burn through your gas (it could be faulty though).

If the guage only goes up after then engine is running, then it could be water pressure ?

I think I'm going to go with water pressure, as the guages for the fuel are on top of the gas tanks Something tells me with the needle all the way to the right this is good? :)

Hey 88,
I'm thinkin' if it's the water pressure gauge, it wouldn't go to the far right 'till you were wfo. At idle it MAY come off the peg but it shouldn't go all the way to the right.

c/6

Hooty

I'll watch the duage the next time I go to the lake. If memory serves correct, it does move around some. Thanks
Chris

88spl
If it is an "amp" gauge in the charging system, it would/could move to the left when the ignition is turned on, and then to the right when the engine is started. At idle just to the right and rise with rpm's.
Just my $.02

Richard
