Hi Folks,
Picked up an Evinrude 70 HP '79 - Model 70973R - Motor today. Previous owner ran for me, starts great. I am going to finish rigging on my boat tomorrow. Had to replace my Chrysler 55! Anyhow....probably won't get a chance to pick up a manual 'til next week.

Can somebody give me some quick specs. so I can get it fired up tomorrow. Plugs? Gap? What is going to be an acceptable compression range with the 15% +/- between cyls rule figured in?

Will chnge lower unit oil and take a look at pump/impeller in the a.m. Is there any qwerks to these models/years?

Anything else I missed? Wud like to have on lake for saturday....

Sorry for the long post...Excited about my new project...

Thanks in advance.
Bill :)

Last Night I took my carbs off to clean them as the fuel has probably been sitting in them for year(s). Any how I broke the plastic in-line Tee that supplies fuel to the top and bottom Carb. from the middle one. Can I replace this fitting with a Brass Tee. Or should It be plastic? Must it be an exact rplacement part?

Thanks
