hi, my questions is will a evinrude engine run ngk plugs without any damage to the motor? everyone seem's to like the champion plug's but they just does'nt seem to do the job in my 60 hp engine.my plugs run a little damp and it seems to hurt the performance of the champion plug's.I can tell when it's time to change them when the motor idle starts getting rough.

Yes, you can run NGK plugs in your OMC motor but you will need to richen up the low, mid and high speed jets. A lot. Stick with what the manufacturer recommends. Champion. The heat range is different.

Also make sure you are using FRESH 87 octane fuel and good oil. OMC, Merc, Yamaha or Pennzoil Blend.

Good luck!

How about telling us what the model number is of the engine, what number spark plug you have in it, and a bit about the service history of the motor.

hi, sorry I did'nt include this information, it's a 1993 model 60 hp evinrude-model#TE60TLETD...I had to have the power head replaced last year, according to the machanic the 93 model 60 hp's lack suffecent cooling causing it to score{gauld} the center cylinder.he gave me the option of replacing the 60 power head with a 70 power head for a extra 250.00,so that's the route I took.

oh yea, it has a champion plug{3}of them#QL77JC4 they dont seem to be doing the job.always a little damp. I can replace them and the engine idles and cranks fine for about 2 trip's or 6 gallons of fuel, then it starts idling rough and hard to keep running when cranking, till i change the plugs, and it will run good for about two trips .thanks for the help ..magnum..

If your new powerhead is for a '94 and later 70hp, use the factory recommended extended nose QL78YC plugs. They run better at low speeds and never foul, unless there is a carb, thermostat, or igniton problem.
