2000 (OMC) Johnson 200: I had a sluggish motor for some time; on an experiment tried using NKG plugs. Didn't seem to do any better and as I was replacing them with the proper Champion plugs, I noticed that 5 of the NKG were REALLY oily and dirty (much more so than the previous Champions were), and one plug REALLY clean. Obviously, the one plug is not working at all. Any suggestions? My 200 hp is more like 160....

Capn Mike,

Quite often a real clean plug is the sign of water ingestion into that cylinder.

Does the plug fire if you try it with a tester?

Thanks....didn't try to make it spark. Will do so this weekend. The plug looks so clean I don't believe it's ever worked. It's going to the dealer next week anyway, but I'm wondering what to expect....and don't like to get snookered....not that that would ever happen.

the clean plug when you remove it, was it wet or smell of gas.try running the engine and remove the spark plug wire.(the one that is not working) ground with a screw driver to engine block see if it is fireing.carefull not to touch the bare screwdriver .
