johnson or evinrude??

i recently bought a 16' starcraft v-bottom. the outboard has a 65 horse evinrude cover on it. but, the diagrams in the service manual makes it look like a johnson instead of evinrude. model # 60ESL71C serial # J3487852. i would very much appreciate some advice on the year and brand for futher servicing. thanks..

Hi Coolboats<br />The #s you posted are for a 1971 Johnson 65hp. If yours has an evinrude bonnet on it thats OK. It doesn't matter, both johnson and evinrude are the same motor during those years, all made by OMC. The only time where it would make a differnce is when you would order paint and trim stuff.
