johnson seahorse 35hp no water getting through

Ive put a new impeller in & flushed the system to make sure that theres no blockages & still it wont bring any water through, has anyone outhere got any suggestions, also is there an easy way to take off the gearlever so i can change the pump without having to dismantle the engine.??

check the line from the outdrive to see if it is sucking air

which bit is the outdrive & how do i check it? please bear with me im a female !!

If your motor is 1979 or later, the shift rod is disconnected behind the water intake lid, both sides of lower unit. Use two wrenches to remove the nut, to avoid putting pressurre on gear. remove the little plastic retainer,and you can pull l/u. If 1979 or before, it is disassembled behind the little cover at side of motor leg. You will have to remove the lower bolt to disconnect. The most common problem when no water gets through after impeller change, is not aligning water pump tube to pump after reinstalling the lower unit. <br /><br />There shouldnt be any difference betweens males and females working on outboards ? Oh yes there is one !! Females looks better doing it !!

Thanks very much for the info ive taken it to bits & am now awaiting arrival of a new pump will let you know how i get on <br />nicole
