Johnson super sea horse 40

I have a johnson super sea horse 40 H.P motor I just picked up, Can someone please tell me aprox how old it is. The model# RK-28B serial# C484038 also it runs good but I have two small problems. 1) It sputters gas on the water at low idle. 2) The stater solinoid gets stuck randomly and I have replaced it once already. Any help with this would be great THANX JIM

Yes it is a used one, the first one (solinoid) did it much more frequntly. Do you think the starter could be drawing to much current causing the solinoid to stick? Is this a comon problem? THANX

Goed evening, I'm new at this forum. I am already reading this forum for some evenings and had already some good information. I just bought a Johnson super sea horse 40 electric. and due to pictures i think it is a motor from around '66. It has not run for about five years and i cannot seem to get it running. I chainged the fuses, the spark plugs, set the timing right. Cleaned the carb, but there isn't comming any gas at the fuses. Anybody who can help me. Any advise is welcome.
