I have replaced the forward and reverse gears and the clutch dog and I still get the skip. I have looked in previous messages and did find some info on the linkage adjustment. I did not have a manual when I did this repair some years ago. I have since ordered one and am waiting for it to get here. I saw in one message that there is some kind of top and bottom bearing that I may have missed. It seems that the drive shaft is moving rather than the clutch dog slipping. I haven't torn it down yet I am waiting for the manual to get here. Any thoughts on the issue while I am waiting ?

Hi Hats,
There's not a whole lot to do as far adjustment. There should be a little bit available in the shift handle itself - make sure the shift handle is pushing the shift rod all the way down - firmly into the foward gear. Also, are the thrust washers in place for both the forward and reverse gears? Check the bronze bearings - both upper and lower - for wear. The bearings in those 10hp lower units are particularly prone to wear if there's any water present. The driveshaft should have little or know side-to-side play.
- Scott
