New to this boating. Bought a boat with 1995 112 Evinrude spl. Can get high rpm's in nuteral. But not while moving. Removed plugs and replaced. Checked them after I ran it. And had some oil on them. I'm mixing at 50 to 1 as I was told by the seller. But I have no manual to be sure. Also when I get it in nuteral in high rpm"s it smokes alot. Does this motor have oil injection. If so where would the oil tank be. Trying to get a manual for it. No luck yet.

Your Motor does NOT have oil injection. If it is the "Special" Series, none of them have it. Make sure you are using a 50:1 Mix(1 Pint Oil for every 6 Gallons of Gas). As for the smoking, need a little more info on what it's doing and when it does it. Did it run OK anytime before? Just start doing it? Ect. You can order a Factory Manual here, which I have found to be the best, as it has very easy to follow diagrahms and information! Let us know more!

Rick

Manual

Re: Evinrude 112 SPL problems

The first time I took it out. It would not idle in neutral position on the throttle. it would idle about 2/3's the way up on the throttle handle. Was told by co.-worker. Not to make any adjustment's on throttle cable. He said it was probably not winterized properly. He said to add 2 bottles of dry gas to the next tank. Along with a bottle of octane boost. I did that then it still will not idle in the neutral position. And had no high rpm's under load ran about half of that tank of gas out. and topped it off again all the time doing the 50:1 ratio. still doing the same.
I did order the manual thank you for the inf. on that
any more help would be great Keith :)

While you are waiting for your manual to arrive go to the Search function at the top of this page. Key in "rebuild carbs" and read what is there (over 200 posts). If you have some extra time I would remove every drop of old fuel in the tank, lines, bulb and fuel pump. That should solve your idle/rpm problems.

Also unless you are sure that the impeller has been replaced recently you might give some thought to a water pump.
