Johnson 60 hp, not starting

recently bought used 60 hp, started fine for seller. I tried on my own a couplem of days later worked okay, alittle hesitant turning over. Put it in the water and it would'nt go. New battery, plugs, points, fuel line clear, it's getting gas, Sounds like it wants to go, one or two pumps but then nothing. Probabaly flooded it trying ot get going, plugs were wet, dried out tried again nothing. Is there a secret with the choke on?? I don't have it full throttle so I don't flood it again

Have you checked for spark? What year is the motor? You will also need to get a manual or hit the library.

Was able to get it fired up the next day, dried out the plugs again, more gentle with the choke use, and she works great, Reading on the rest of the form I found several other helpful tips, keep up the good advice forums
