Re: spun hup

Sometimes they are so loose, you just need to put the engine into gear, and try to rotate the prop by hand....It should not, or it should 'rachet' in one direction only.
Sometime, they are spun-out, but still tight enough to fool you..So take a paint stick, and paint a line from the center of the hub,all the way out to the metal part of the prop. Run it. If the paint line breaks or looses it's alignment, it is spinning, and should be re-hubbed.

Performance is a dead give-away anyway tho. It will act like a slipping clutch, on a car, or like a car's tires on an icey road.

Re: spun hup

If all you are doing is gaining rpms and not going anywhere then you most likely spun the prop
about $50 to repair. You can mark the hub and prop with a magic marker put it in the water try to take off then when you take the boat out check to see if the marks are still lined up. If not you have a spun prop.Good luck
