15 hp Johnson Not pumping water

Just replaced the water pump, housing and all, still no help. I'm getting a mist but not the usaul spray I had before. I've tried to blow air back through and do get air both ways. Thanks in advance.

It would be nice to know how old this 15 is.Do you have the telltale indicator,or do'es it just spill out the back exhaust ports.Either way you will need to determine if this engine is actually getting hot.Stick your thumb on the small rectangular casting just in front of the cylinder head seam and just behind the flywheel or if this is the really old 15 anywhere around the cylinders.Temp there should be kinda hot at best but certainly not unbearable.

I would like to know the year also. Also how are you running this motor. My 1975 15 HP Johnson will not spray any water out the top exhaust port if I run it on the ear muff. If I put it in the water or a test tank then lots of water comes out upper port. Mine does not have the pee hole or tell tale hole. My motor after warm can hold fingers to top of block for about 4 seconds.

it could be that when you replaced the pump that the grommet did not line up with the tube that takes water up to the power head. You may want to drop the lower unit again and make sure that the grommet lines up with the tube when you reattach the lower unit
