trouble,trouble,trouble...wont start without starter fluid, then runs for 10 sec's and stalls out... fuel checked on all lines and there, cleaned out carbs, no pits.. or anything.. replaced new ignition switch, new fuel pump, plugs, compression Okay and spark present.. fly wheel is intact and not moving around, voltage is fine at coils.. plugs are getting darkened by firing though.. cant find the choke though to check for sure.. how to check it as well? Started doing this stuff when ran out of gas.. then the troubles started from there on in...your comments are appreciated as well  rlandry@xpressamerica.net

Ron,
Sounds to me like a fuel problem, if starter fluid will make it run for 10 seconds then it stalls out. Ignition, spark and compression must be present for the engine to fire and fuel to keep it going.....you wrote "fuel checked on all lines and there"??????? what's this mean? If indeed you have fuel in the lines verify it is filling the carburetor bowls and passing the jets. Either fuel pump is not working or jets are clogged or you are sucking air instead of fuel from somewhere. Re-check you entire fuel system starting from the tank and working toward the carbs. Let us know results.

When you say "cleaned out carbs" do you mean you soaked them in cleaner or just gas? New kits? What brand lits?

Your motor does not have a choke. It has a primer. GT has good advise. I think you may end up back at the carbs again.

Keep us informed!

Remove the carb bowl plugs and verify fuel is getting into the carbs.
