I have an 88spl Johnson 1994 model on a 17ft center conlsole. My problem is when I get up on plane engine runs for about 3-500 yards at wot then cuts back to 1100-1500rpm. Engine does not die!! Just cuts back rpm. After this happen you can bring throtle back to idle then go back to wot on plane. Then will happen again. <br />It is not a fuel problem. I can disconnect the kill switch wire (black and yellow) at power pack and engine will run fine. Engine has good **** flow. Could this be the water temp sensor acting up? or something in the power pack or the strator going bad? Any help is appreciated!!!

Sounds electrical to me. Your first bet would be to make sure all cylinders are firing. The power pack may also be bad. The stators on OMC's usually dont go as often as Mercs. I would have to bet it is the powerpack. It is cheaper also thanks
