How feasible (expensive) would it be to add a trim gauge to my 88 4winns 160? I'm new to this, it would help knowing where the drive is headed.
Thanks for any ideas!
Gary
You may already have the sender installed, hard to believe that OMC would ship out drives without it. If the boat is out of the water check about halfway down the starboard side of the transom mount for 2 screws holding in a black round piece with a spring loaded arm coming off of it. Or look up at the top of the drive inside to see the 2 hydraulic lines for your trim there should be a 2 wire black cable (looks like lamp cord) follow it down to the sender.
Boatin.. hey in poked around last night and did find a sending unit on the drive with wire attached. What is involved in placing a gauge and setting it up?
Thanks, Gary
Gary...should be able to shop around and pick up a gauge pretty cheap, you will have to hunt around the back of the engine see the sender wires and see if they just end there or if they connect to a harness and go up to the dash, if not you will have to run a wire up to the dash. The 2 wires that come from the sender, 1 goes to ground and the other to the guage. Have included a link to a site that some good info...you have to make sure the guage you get matches the resistance of the sender...see the attached link. Trim Info
