Boat Leaks In Alumacraft

I have a 1995 Alumacraft Phantom 185 it leaks after tearing the thing apart to find and fix the leak in the livewell line it is still leaking, I don't see any loose rivets or rust on the rivets, do you guys in the boat business have any old Indian tricks for finding leaks??? yes the plug is in>>>> please help me any tip or method is appreciated because it is really pi----g me off<br /> The leak is not huge but irritating..Thanks

Yes,<br /><br />Fill the boat with water and look for leaks. <br /><br />I use the word "fill" figuratively. A few inches in the bilge will probably tell you where your source is.

Neighbor has a Aluminum fishing boat to with pin holes from the salt and galvanic corrosion. Thinking about spraying truck bed liner in it. Other step might be to use some type of epoxy to paint the hull

If you find a leak and can get to the inside, use Gluv It. <br /><br />Available here:<br /><br />www.westmarine.com<br /><br />If not, use 3M 5200 sealant.

You may have many rivets that dont necessarily "leak" but might seep and if enough of them do that then you will take in some water.When the boat is loaded and under way the pressure will make a seep into a leak until everyone is out of the boat and the pressure is reduced and then you have a seep again.Some are hard to find.How much water are we talking about and is it salt??Charlie
