A problem has developed with my 87 Johnson 225. It will start right up, take you offshore to your fishing spot, then the trouble begins..

After fishing for a little while, when you try to start it up and leave it is very hard starting. You must choke it and restart it many times. It will finally start and then the warning horn will sound. You must then run to the back, pump the primer ball 10-15 times. By then the motor stalls out. You must repeat this process several times to get it to idle at all. Once it will finally idle, when you put it into gear it will stall. You must start it, rev it up and very quickly put it into gear and apply WOT to mutter up onto a plane. From then on it will run and idle fine. So the problem is isolated to being off for 30 min or more and trying to restart.

I have rebuilt the carbs, replaced the fuel line, replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, replaced the primer ball.

I am out of ideas. Thanks in advance for any help given

Bill
